FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) also called female cutting is the cutting away of some or all of the external female genitalia. FGM is of no importance physically, psychologically nor health-wise, and so should be greatly frowned at. It is also of Importance to note that FGM once done cannot be reversed which makes it the duty of you and I to prevent FGM by educating those around us on the adverse effects of FGM. These adverse effects can be short or long term, they include but not limited to; Infections from the use of unsterilized instruments such as blade, scissors, knives etc Infections can also result from urinary retension since part of the urine passageway has been cut off The girl child will not derive pleasure from sexual intercourse in the future The girl child might experience pain during intercourse which can result to marital strain Inability to have intercourse in some cases Difficulty urinating and menstruating Painful
